CJ Camp says I don’t know what it is…

I just can’t get excited about this beer, which is too bad, because if I read its description somewhere, I’d tell myself that I ought to get some immediately.
I’ve been drinking this all winter, both at Tracy’s and at home. On my most recent pour at home, I managed about a finger of head. Lovely reddish-brown color. Smells like someone put roasted malt in there!
And then…
I don’t know. It just kind of tastes like a basic dark beer. Thin-to-medium body. It’s got decent malt-to-hops balance, with the roast flavor coming on fairly strong midway through and a mild, hoppy finish. It tastes like a light porter.
I like it. I drink it. I just can’t get excited about it.

Ok, I’m down with the fact that you can’t get excited about this beer, but…you’ve been drinking this all winter, but you can’t get excited about it?! Um, there are like 4,000,000 beers out there, but you continue to drink the one you can’t get excited about?! I’m a pretty fuckin picky beer drinker, and I can find a beer to get excited about, every night.

It’s hardly the only beer I’ve been drinking. I probably should have added “off and on” in there. It’s on tap at Tracy’s, the only bar I frequent, and it’s available even at the liquor stores with the worst beer selection. Plus, I’m not willing to work overtime to be able to always afford the beers I get excited about in the winter, like Thomas Hardy’s Ale, Samichlaus and Bell’s Expedition Stout and Third Coast Ale.
And as I said, I like it. It’s simply an easy beer to fall back on if nothing else sounds good because it’s always there.

CJ, my apologies…upon re-reading it this afternoon, I see my comment sounded pretty bitchy, rather than sardonically humorous, as was my intent. That will teach me to attempt to write witty posts after having a few beers

Ah… that’s cool. It should teach me to write more clearly. Seems I’m quite out of the habit.
