Schell Octoberfest
October 13th thru October 19th
Brewer's Description
The Octoberfest or Marzen (March) type of beer was originally brewed in March, and laid down in caves before the summer weather rendered brewing impossible. Stocks would be drawn upon heavily during the summer, and exhausted by October.
In keeping with true German tradition, August Schell Octoberfest beer is brewed just once a year. We carefully select the perfect balance of Caramel malt, Pale malt, Cara Pils and Black malt with Cascade and Nugget hops to create a rich, smooth taste.

Rett says The Bronze Medal
November 6th, 2008
Alright, time for catch up. Schell Octoberfest definitely had a tough act to follow, coming after both Summit and Surly. If I had to rate the three, I’d probably put Schell’s in third, but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it. Definitely had the characteristic Marzen style taste, heavy on the malt, but pretty smooth. I think it was just a little less flavorful by comparison.
