Flat Earth Winter Warlock
March 24th thru March 30th
Brewer's Description
Winter Warlock is made in the tradition of some of England's great barley-wine ales. Our beer is made with delicious English base malt boiled the wort longer to increase the caramelization of the sugars.
This beer pairs well with calamari, ham and quail. Enjoy this beer with someone special on a cold winter's night, a roaring fire and time to reflect on how each beer is as unique as a snowflake.

Eric says Golden it is, barleywine not so much.

I loooove a good barleywine, especially dark and hoppy and strong ones–see Avery Hogheaven. I first sampled the Warlock at Winterfest, and thought it seemed a little light, but blamed it on the fact that my taste buds were totally destroyed from 3 hours of imperial stouts and Belgian craziness. But, no, the liquid in the bottle was indeed just a tad on the light side. Seemed like a blend of a Belgian golden ale and a English barleywine, and left me wanting more of a punch, more flavor. I’ll stick one away for next winter and hopefully it will improve.

English golden barleywines are a horse of a different color when compared to american barleywines like bigfoot or hogheaven. From my experience the american versions are more bitter and alcoholic, while the english ones tend to be more rounded.
