Schell Pilsner
March 10th thru March 16th
Brewer's Description
A shining example of the true European Pilsner style beer, Schell's Pilsner is brewed with 100 percent barley malt, where the imported German Hallertau hops flavor is showcased. Its full hop characteristic and delicate aroma were developed in Pilsen, Bohemia around 1840. This style was widely copied by early American breweries. Over the years, however, it has been lost to the much lighter-bodied, low-hopped relatives we refer to as American "Premium" beer.

mattberan says Standard Schell’s tribute

Schell rarely disapoints me (Please Rett consider adding Hauenstein to the list!) This beer is a great slammer with enough flavor to please picky beer people. I’d say this should be served in more bars and at more parties. A good amount of hops for people who don’t like hops. Very well balanced beer, with a slight lean toward a mid- to – end- pallate maltiness.
YAY POP TOP! Screw off caps suck.

Why does the closure method matter? Just wondering.

You can’t re-use Screw-top caps. The threads hold bacteria and there isn’t a device sold that will re-cap them.
There’s no reason to use screw tops except that it doesn’t require an opener. And let’s be honest, why aren’t any beer companies using returnables anymore! I want to drink beer and do good for the earth.
