…get down with winter beer. The Summit Winter Ale is a darker beer that can be enjoyed by those whose palates are more accustomed to enjoying lighter offerings. The subtle coffee and caramel/chocolatey floavor is what I like most about this beer. You can definitely have more than a few without feeling overly full, in contrast to what a lot of people generally think drinking dark beer will do for the stomache. Compared to Sam’s Winter or Schell’s Snowstorm, I would definitely take Summit over either of these any day.

I didn’t really like this beer. It was just kind of boring. Nothing stood out to say have more. I just kept thinking why am I drinking all these calories when its really not very good, I should just stop, but yet I didn’t. I’ll leave the rest in the fridge for my husband to drink.

Delicious bitter hoppy notes of coffee. mmmm…this beer would be great with a cocoa covered chocolate truffle. Usually not the biggest fan of Summit brews, but this one’s got my vote. mmmm…

I first discovered Winter Ale during a Summit brewery tour and I loved it instantly. It’s perfectly smooth and mild. Feels like coffee, tastes like delicious. (I’m behind a couple weeks but I haven’t had a chance up until now.)

This beer was the house beverage for our holiday ugly sweater party. Well, for me, at least. I bought a lot and everyone else brought their own. I still haven’t finished them. No worries, it’s a good, bold winter ale and it’s still unbelievably cold outside.

I think I should like it more than I actually do.

A tad creamy. I do like the malt flavor on my tongue. The slightly hoppy finish is meh, more because that’s my personal preference than because it’s poorly done. I could keep drinking it, but I wouldn’t savor it.

I do not like Summit and so did not try this one. I order that on my own and will only drink it if it’s in a keg and I don’t have a choice, or I am offered the drink and don’t have a choice.

Definitely one of the better beers from Summit Brewery, and a standout in the brown ale genre. Dark in color, but pretty sweet in taste. This is one I will look forward to each year once the fall months hit. Relatively good price too.

Good to drink, not sip.

This beer is very well balanced. There is never an explosion of hops, malt, chocolate, coffee, yeast, or anything else that might turn people off. It should be appreciated by everyone, only the weakest of beer drinkers will shun this brew. There is a slight chemical aftertaste, but barely noticeable. Overall, well done.
