This beer packs a punch…of booze. I really enjoy the hoppiness factor, although I can’t quite place what I’m tasting. It has short, flat, subtle flavors. I’m basically tasting caramel and alcohol. This beer kind of blows. It’s tasty with cashew brittle though…and would probably be good with No Country For Old Men.

This beer is a bore. I can taste the potatoes, but I’m not into it. I’m not the biggest Summit fan, so I kind of expected to like it considering it is a completely different style then the rest of their beers. Boring.

Not my favorite Schell beer, but this one is pretty slammable. Drink this one with a hot dog in your mouth. mmm…

Delicious on my lips. This beer gives me thoughts of sitting outside grilling a chicken and sipping 10 if these on a 75 degree day. Very well balanced and drinkable. Imagine, smoked grilled chicken and a Special Ale? mmm…

…ick! SICK! I mean acidic! THIS BEER BLOWS! Worst than Glueks honey bock. Well, equally disgusting anyway. It would be a disservice to pair this beer with anything edible. This maybe a great medical breakthrough for inducing vomit.

porter like no other

This beer is great at a higher temp. Maybe 45 degrees or so. Doesn’t really strike me as a porter though(as the label reads, “a porter like no other.”)…more like a nut brown ale. It’s a little flat and I would say over priced for what your getting.

Flavored water, but heavier

This beer is kind of like an uncarbonated flavored water, but heavier. I think it’s kind of tasteless, although I do taste hints of coffee and cranberries. Not what I expected from Surly. I don’t care for the brief tartness it offers, but towards the end of the beer I kind of enjoyed the mild tasteless aftertaste. Love the 9% alcohol content.

Alt meets Herkiburger

And thank you Herkimer for a hopped up Alt beer paired with a burger topped with mozzarella cheese, tobacco onions, bacon, and a raspberry bbq sauce on a toasted bun. I enjoyed the Alt, but it was a little bitey for me. I really enjoy a hoppy beer, but this one had something else going on that wasn’t screaming at me. I must say though, I used to be a smoker, and this combination really made me want a cigarette…oh, oopsi had one that night. mmmm…oooooooo…crap

Delicious bitter hoppy notes of coffee. mmmm…this beer would be great with a cocoa covered chocolate truffle. Usually not the biggest fan of Summit brews, but this one’s got my vote. mmmm…

Another great beer. I love the hoppiness of the Furious as well as the hint of grapefruit I’m tasting. This is the first time I’ve had it out of the can, and it’s super cold. Kind of wish it were a little warmer. I would really dig trying this beer with a big warm bite of baked bread cheese. mmmm…
