Profile: In my early beer-drinking days I consumed what was most accessible and cheapest, knowing there was better out there but not having the money or inclination to really worry about it. Now that I'm a grown-up my tastes and paycheck have evolved and I'm always interested in finding new delicious beer. This is a project I can support!

Loyal, but not in love

Week 26: Grainbelt Premium (June 23-29) | Reviewed on July 1st, 2008

I have to agree with Joe Lunchpail on this one. Premo always has a place in my “heart” but I don’t go searching for it. Some of the northern MN bars don’t carry much else so it’s nice that it’s always a standby when I’m up visiting the folks, but I’m not in love with the lighter, cheaper taste.

Delightful

Week 8: Flat Earth Cygnus X-1 (February 18-24) | Reviewed on February 29th, 2008

I enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s a dark, heavy beer that isn’t too dark or too heavy. It’s like an oatmeal stout for pussies. And sometimes, I’m a pussy.

Love at first sight

Week 5: Summit Winter (January 28-February 3) | Reviewed on February 12th, 2008

I first discovered Winter Ale during a Summit brewery tour and I loved it instantly. It’s perfectly smooth and mild. Feels like  coffee, tastes like delicious. (I’m behind a couple weeks but I haven’t had a chance up until now.)

The perfect beer for people who don’t like beer

Week 2: Gluek Honey Bock (January 7-13) | Reviewed on January 10th, 2008

My first impression of the Honey Bock was a stale diet coke mixed with pie. The only thing weaker than the taste is the finish. It’s like puddle water.  It just did not taste or feel like a beer at all. It also gave me a whopper of a headache, which is weird because beer never gives me a headache.

The only positives I can give it are the cost, the 5.80% abv and the pretty can.

I still drank three of them.
